Shed permit FAQ
Shed Permit Questions
Short answers to what people ask before ordering. Ask anything else in your quote request.
Get Price QuoteDo I need a permit for a shed?
Many counties exempt small sheds, often under 120 to 200 square feet with no power. Larger sheds and workshops usually need one.
How close to the fence can a shed be?
Accessory buildings often need 3 to 5 feet from side and rear lines, sometimes less for small sheds. It depends on your zoning.
Do I need plans for a prefab shed?
Usually just a site plan, plus the manufacturer’s drawings. Larger buildings may need a floor plan and elevation.
Can you draw a shed that’s already built?
Yes. We draw it where it stands, so you can permit it after the fact.
